Peregrine Projects takes over the Nehi Building, featuring Luke Miller Buchanan and Ollie Wagner / by Shaun Richards

Friday, May 15th, Peregrine Projects will host it's first member show of 2015 "All That is Glorious Around Us," featuring the paintings and mixed media work of Artists Luke Miller Buchanan, and Ollie Wagner.  The event will also include a small number of works by other Peregrine artists.  The opening is 6pm to 10pm, and will include eats and drinks generously provided by local restaurateurs.  The venue will also be open from 11am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday for viewing, as well as by appointment the rest of the week.  The exhibition will close Saturday, May 23rd.

“All that is glorious around us” is a quote from author James Fenimore Cooper written in 1852. It is an excerpt from a much longer passage describing the natural radiance of the American countryside and in a larger sense the relationship between manifest destiny and capitalism.  New works by Luke Buchanan and Ollie Wagner are an examination of both the physical and mental landscape of modern America. These images serve as both a love letter to America as well as a meditation on what it means to be immersed in a culture that is inseparably tied to the concepts of consumerism and simulation.
