CaseyPorn:  “The work for this show draws inspiration from the space, The Pink Building, and the color itself. I thought about what pink represents in our culture the things we associate with it. Feelings about love, coupling, and gender are present in the work. During this process, I married my long time partner. As a result of our legal union, I will be changing my name. The idea of becoming someone else is both liberating and terrifying. These pieces explore notions of transformation and identity. If I’m not Casey Porn, am I still Casey Porn?”

David Eichenberger:  For The Pink Building, David has produced work inspired by the DIY nature of The Pink Building Project itself, addressing a modern ‘hunter/gatherer’ philosophy and applying it to a series of narrative drawings rooted in fantasy and play.

About the PInk Building Project:

The Pink Building Project seeks to invest in the process of making art. Located on a south east corner of downtown Raleigh The Pink Building has become home to four Resident Artists, Shelley Smith, Scott Donley, Kelly Kye, and Mackenzie Bullard. The group has been given one year to transform the space into whatever they believe will fill the most pressing needs of their work, and in turn the community has the opportunity to participate in their process of creating.
